Maintaining your air conditioner?

On hot days, an air conditioner is great and a lot of air conditioners you can also use for heating. A quality air conditioner will last for years, especially if you maintain it properly or better yet, have it maintained. In this blog, we want to remind you of the importance of properly maintaining your air conditioner. Something we at Flowplus are happy to take care of.
Did you know that having your air conditioning serviced is sometimes mandatory?
In some cases, having your air conditioning serviced is simply mandatory. Whether or not this is the case depends on the amount of refrigerant. We’ll be happy to give you more info during installation, but you can basically always read it on the outside of the refrigeration unit as well. With less than 7.4 kg of refrigerant, maintenance is not mandatory, although we recommend it. The following rules apply in advance:
- < 5 tons CO2eq & > 50 tons CO2eq: maintenance is required annually
- < 50 tons CO2eq & > 500 tons CO2eq: maintenance is required every six months
- > 500 tons CO2eq: maintenance is required every three months
Don’t forfeit your legal warranty
Manufacturers must provide a legal warranty. However, know that a lot of manufacturers attach an annual maintenance to this warranty. We can perform this for you. Make it even easier on yourself with an annual maintenance contract. We will then visit you annually and keep your air conditioning in optimal condition. This way you can be sure of your warranty and a smoothly operating air conditioning system with optimal efficiency.
Symptoms that may indicate problems
A number of symptoms may indicate that your air conditioner could use maintenance:
- Is your air conditioning making more noise than before, this could indicate clogged filters. You can try to remove the dust yourself with a vacuum cleaner or a damp cloth. Does the noise pollution persist? Then give us a call.
- Do you notice a reduction in cooling power? If so, this may indicate a lack of coolant.
- Also, rising energy bills for no apparent reason can indicate an air conditioning problem.
